Prosecutor Accuses Police Of ‘Shielding Killer Drivers’

By Samuel Flomo, Jr.

In an explosive public indictment of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Bong County Attorney Jonathan Flomo, has laid bare the utter incompetence of local law enforcement.

Flomo accused officers of “shielding negligent drivers” from justice, and allowing preventable highway slaughter to continue unchecked.

His’s searing rebuke targets a police force deeply plagued by procedural laziness, and an embarrassing ignorance of the traffic laws.

By treating deadly collisions as minor road mishaps rather than potential vehicular homicides, the LNP stands accused of actively denying justice to grieving families while dangerous drivers roam free.

“When reckless driving deprives citizens of their fundamental right to life, treating the scene like a routine traffic infraction is an insult to the victims. LNP’s continuous failure to build solid criminal cases borders on complicity,” legal observers in Gbarnga pointed at the circumstance.

Flomo’s intervention follows a wave of furious community protests in the county.

Outraged youth, and residents have repeatedly taken to the highways to denounce LNP’s chronic indifference. They warned that police inaction has effectively transformed the region’s main thoroughfares into “unregulated killing fields.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Flomo noted the absolute absence of official police statistics regarding road fatalities; a failure that exposes LNP’s total breakdown in basic data collection, and record-keeping.

Yet, despite the lack of official state figures, the horrific frequency of blood-soaked crash sites in the county speaks for itself.

By demanding that LNP immediately overhaul its investigative methods, and prepare cases for full homicide prosecution, Flomo has delivered a clear verdict that LNP’s era of lawless enforcement, gross negligence, and institutional failure must end now.
