The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Maryland County Detachment, has arrested a Liberian woman, who was in possession of four plates of marijuana valued at US$400.
The suspect, Mamie Williams, native of River Gee County, was arrested at the Karloken security checkpoint in Barrobo District.
LDEA confirmed how the arrest was carried out on Wednesday, September 9, at about 1: p.m., after officers received a credible tip-off from members of the public about the woman transporting illegal drugs along the Karloken route.
LDEA officers were immediately deployed to the checkpoint where they intercepted, and searched the suspect, leading to the discovery of the four plates of marijuana.
Following her arrest, Suspect Williams was transferred to the LDEA Central Office in Harper where she is currently being detained while undergoing investigation.
LDEA Chief of Operations, John Williams McGee, confirmed the arrest.
McGee: “LDEA got a tip-off, so we got there. We arrested a Liberian national, a female, with four plates of marijuana.”
He reaffirmed LDEA’s commitment to combat trafficking, and use of illegal drugs in the county, and anywhere in the country.
“We are working tirelessly day, and night to make sure we have a drug-free environment.”
Meanwhile, LDEA has called on the locals to cooperate with the Agency by providing timely information that will help curb the flow of illegal drugs.
As investigation is ongoing, the suspect is expected to face prosecution after the investigation is completed.
