Wion’s Public Backing Of Sogbie Ignites Mix-up
By Aaron B. Nemah
A public show of unity between one of River Gee County’s most influential businessmen, and its sitting senator, has stirred political mix-up three years ahead of the next senatorial election.
- Dennis Wion, a widely respected entrepreneur known for funding youth programs, and community projects, appeared alongside Senator Jonathan Sogbie during an engagement with residents in Gbeapo Kileaken.
Wion later shared photos, and a message on his official Facebook page: “We have resolved, and well dusted 2029. We are not discouraged.”
Locally, the post went viral, with many residents interpreting it as an early endorsement of Sen. Sogbie’s bid for a second term.
The message sparked debate on Facebook and community chats.
Some saw it as proof that Wion is fully behind Sogbie’s future political ambitions. Others viewed it as a sign that Sogbie still commands strong grassroots backing in River Gee.
Political observers say Wion’s support carries serious weight. As one of the county’s top business voices, his influence extends to young people, entrepreneurs, and community leaders- key voting blocs.
“Wion is not just a businessman. When he speaks, people in River Gee listen. This display of unity could strengthen Sogbie’s appeal among stakeholders ahead of future elections,” one analyst noted.
Supporters of Sen. Sogbie argued that continued engagement with citizens, plus endorsements from respected figures like Wion, proved that Sogbie remains a formidable force.
Although, the 2029 elections are still years away, the Gbeapo Kileaken appearance is already fueling speculation about Sogbie’s next move.
For many residents, the joint appearance reflected more than politic; it signaled confidence and a shared commitment to River Gee’s growth.
As discussions continue, all eyes will be on how endorsements from influential leaders would shape the county’s political landscape ahead of 2029.
