Residents of Gbeneta Town in Kpaai District #1, Bong County, have welcomed a major boost to their ongoing bridge construction efforts.
This followed a donation of 50 bags of cement from Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye, Sr.
The donation fulfilled a commitment Moye made after he visited the community, and witnessed the deteriorating condition of the bridge, which residents say, has long posed a threat to lives and hampered transportation and trade.
For years, community members have struggled with the poor state of the bridge, especially during the rainy season when travel becomes difficult and dangerous.
The situation prompted residents to launch a self-help initiative to construct a safer, and more durable bridge to serve the town and surrounding communities.
Moye’s County Coordinator, Daniel Giddings Kerkulah, made the donation on behalf of the Senator.
Kerkulah described the contribution as a demonstration of Sen. Moye’s commitment to community development, and infrastructure improvement.
Kerkulah said, the 50 bags of cement represent the first phase of Moye’s support, and assured residents that he remains committed to assist the project until it is completed.
“This bridge is important to the people of Gbeneta and neighboring communities. Sen. Moye understands the challenges residents face, and so, he is determined to support the initiatives that improve your daily lives.”
The already excited residents appreciated Sen. Moye for responding to their concerns.
They pledged to contribute labor and locally available materials until the bridge is successfully completed.
Once completed, the bridge will improve access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential services.
It will also enhance road safety and create new opportunities for economic growth.
