TRIAL OF ALLEGED MISSING 16BN INDICTEES’ EXPECTED SOON
The first Judicial Circuit, Criminal Court ”C” of Judge Peter W. Gbenewelleh, for Montserrado County, will hear over 16 billion, Economic Sabotage, Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal Facilitation, Case involving Milton A. Weeks, former Executive Governor, Central Bank of Liberia, (CBL), Charles E. Sirleaf, Deputy Governor for Operation, Dorbor M. Hagba, Director, Finance Department, Richard H. Walker Director for Operations, Joseph Dennis, Deputy Director, Internal Audit, all of the Central Bank of Liberia.
Judge Gbenewelleh also noted that defendants thereby commanded to notify the parties together with their counsels in the above entitled cause of action to appear before the Criminal Court ”C” for sitting in its May 17 2019 Term of court at the hour of 10: am.
He further said for hearing of the motion for justification of surety, they are thereby commanded to serve the notice of assignment by leaving a copy with each of the concerned parties or their counsels and have them to sign for same and subsequently have their official returns endorsed on the back of the original copy thereof, indicating the form and manner of its service and have filed in the office of the clerk of criminal Court ”C” Knowles W. Shain.
The Judge also said ”and for so doing, this shall constitute your legal and sufficient authority.”
It can be recalled that on March 4, 2019, Monrovia City Court of Judge Kennedy Peabody sent Charles E. Sirleaf, Milton Weeks, Dorbor M. Hagba, and more still to come as three officials of the Central Bank were sent to the Monrovia Central Prison after being charged for Economic Sabotage Misused of Public Money, among others, while Richard H. Walker and Joseph G. Dennis to be identified.
The state has charged defendants with the Crime of Economic Sabotage, Misuse of Public Money, Property or Records and Illegal Disbursement and Expenditure of Public Money, Criminal Conspiracy and Criminal Facilitation.
The writ of arrest issued at the Monrovia City Court indicated: “You are hereby commanded to arrest the living bodies of Charles E Sirleaf, Milton Weeks, Dorbor M. Hagba, Richard H. Walker and Joseph G. Dennis to be identified defendant and forthwith bring them before the Monrovia City Court, Temple of Justice Building, Montserrado County to answer the charge of Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal facilitation ,Economic Sabotage and Misuse of Public Money, Property or Records and Illegal Disburse and expenditure of Public Money based upon the oath and compliant of the Republic of Liberia by and thru the Ministry of Justice Private prosecutor in which it is substantially alleged as fellow to wit.”
The writ also indicated that during the period of January, AD. 2016 unto and including February A.D. 2018 in the city of Monrovia, Montserrado County, Republic of Liberia, while codefendant Charles E. Sirleaf while serving as acting Central Bank Governor purposely with wicked and criminal intent connived and conspired with other officials of the Central Bank of Liberia and the aforesaid co-defendants all of whom authorizing and intentionally printed and caused the printing of excess Liberian dollars banknotes (LD 146,250,00) for which the amount of US 401,469.58 was paid to Crane Currency by the Central Bank of Liberia on the 5 bilion Liberian dollars banknotes printing and US433,898.14 for the excess Liberian dollars printed (LD 359,750,000.00 on the 10 billion transactions and additionally failing to account for LD 2,645,000.00 which said defendants out of deception criminally converted to their personal use and benefit with the intent to deprive the government and its citizens thereof.
The actions on the part of the defendants have the propensity to cause serious economic instability, undermine the government and cause its citizens to rise against it.
During the argument after the writ of arrest was served, the legal counsels representing the interest of the defendants pleaded with Judge Kennedy Peabody for a submission while the state also pleaded to make a submission.

Massa Sonnie, Assistant Director of Banking; Lawrence Dennis, Teller and Suah Anderson, Compliance Director.
