Koung Breaks Ground For US$250K Women’s Center

Vice President Jeremiah Kpahn Koung, has officially broken ground for a US$250,000 Women’s Center in the Far East Community of Gbarnga, Bong County to enhance women’s skills development, and promote economic empowerment.

The ceremony was held over the weekend when Koung emphasized the need for the project to fulfil a government commitment to construct a vocational training facility for the women.

Koung encouraged the women to take ownership of the center, utilize it to improve their livelihoods, and contribute to their families, and the community.

The inclusion of the project in the national budget received support from Bong County Senator Prince Moye, who highlighted that the center will offer space for vocational training, empowerment programs, meetings, and various community activities.

Some of the women warmly welcomed the initiative, with representatives from Christian, and Muslim communities expressing gratitude to the government.

They described the center as a significant step to create more opportunities for women in the region.

Funded through the national budget, the project will be implemented by the Ministry of Gender and Child Protection, with construction expected to be completed within one year.
