The Public Clinic located in central Louisiana Township Montserrado County has being criticized of charging high fees for patients.

Other sources, including the chair of Sasstown-Gbowee Community, have accused the local health authority of commercializing services at the facility.

“The service is expensive, and they are simply telling us that they are buying medicines for the clinic, and government is not doing anything.”

The community chairman, Jefferson Hoggard said, his pregnant wife, who recently visited the clinic paid about four L$4000 for treatment received.

He also mentioned how the amount was equivalent to charges for services rendered by other private health facilities.

Hoggard: “The payment of services indicates that the government is not providing free medical supplies to clinics contrary to government free of charge pronouncement.”

During a visit for interview regarding the widespread allegation by some locals, the Officer-in-Charge of the clinic Augustine Boah, declined to speak on the matter that services obtained from the government clinic are paid for.

Boah said, he was mandated by the Montserrado County Health Team not to speak with the press about any issue concerning the clinic.
