G/Kru Health Team Prioritizes Patients’ Care

Grand Kru County Health Officer, Dr. Learwillie Craig, II, says, his team has prioritized improved patients’ care, health-workers’ welfare, and infrastructure development in five health districts.
Craig told on Tuesday, September 8, at his office in Barclayville that his administration has introduced ‘new measures’ to strengthen healthcare delivery, and improve working conditions for health workers.
He attributed the progress to support from the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Craig: “Funds received through the government’s fiscal allotment are being used to improve infrastructure at the County Health Team office, and 10 health facilities currently benefiting from national budgetary support.”
He said, fencing work is ongoing at the Ministry of Health compound in Barclayville, while construction of a residence for the County Health Officer is also underway.
“The effective disbursement of funds to the County Health System is already yielding positive results in the health sector.”
Dr. Craig said, 10 of the 23 health facilities receive US$5,000 annually from the national budget, while the County Health Team receives US$20,000 each fiscal year.
Among the facilities benefiting from the allocation are Rally Time Hospital, and the Dr. Dormue Nimely Mental Health Hospital in Sasstown.
Dr. Craig said, the Ministry of Health has also announced plans to deploy additional health professionals to the newly upgraded Sasstown Hospital to address existing manpower shortages.
He meanwhile, commended the Minister of Health, her team, and health partners for their continued support to Grand Kru County.
