Fendell Residents Decry Lack Of Safe Drinking Water, Sanitation

Some residents of central Fendell located in Montserrado County are faced with serious water and opened defecation problems.

Unsafe drinking water, coupled with the lack of private and public latrines are main obstacles to residents in ‘Block B’ Community of central Fendel in Louisiana Township.

Chairman Josiah Zou recalled that three children lost their lives in abandoned water wells since the  establishment of the community.

“The wells were dug for construction works and left uncovered by some properties’ owners,” the community chair disclosed.

He also noted that the lack of hand pumps has made inhabitants vulnerable to water borne diseases as a result of uncontrollable human wastes.

Some dwellers that can’t afford to buy plastic bags of water rely and survive on creeks for drinking water without proper water treatment.

Chairman Zou then  called on government, aid agencies and humanitarian groups to render assistance to the people of Block B Community in central Fendell.
