The prolonged delay by President Joseph Boakai  to make decision regarding the investigation in  the fight at the headquarters of the LDEA , River Gee County District 1 Representative, Alexander Poure, has expressed fear, saying that the delay by President Boakai is impeding the fight against drugs across the country; as such, there is a need that the President Chief Of Staff,  Sylvester Grigsby be invited to explain reason behind the delay.

Speaking Tuesday at the Capitol Building in Monrovia, Rep. Poure said  the  investigation has been prolong, there is a need that the president’s office provides clarity on the investigation, in order to take immediate action to resolve the situation that is currently impeding the function of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency.

He added that the issue of illicit drugs across the country cannot be over- emphasized, stating that drug is currently destroying the youthful generation who accordingly to him, are the future leaders, stressing that it is not good for the growth and development of the country.

The River Gee County lawmaker also told the gathering that one of the president pillars of the AREST agenda is the issue of reducing the intake of drugs among youths across the country, but said with the delay in the investigation report; the president pronouncement is seen to be fake, citing that it is not good for the country.

Rep. Poure in his communication stated that on June 3, 2024, a significant dispute erupted between Col. Abraham Kromah and his deputies which accordingly led to their suspension and immediate appointment of Christophus Peters as acting director but noted that since then, the matter is yet to come to conclusion, noting that it is impeding the function of the LDEA and fight against illicit drugs use across the country.

Moreover, the River Gee lawmaker maintained that the issue of drugs is critical, revealing that over one million of young people are being affected and there are more to come if nothing is done.

Rep. Poure has at the same time called on President  Boakai reason  and resolve the situation at the LDEA for the betterment of the country.
