AB Kromah Back In Gov’t
- Leads National Campaign Against Illegal Mining
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has reinstated veteran security operative Abraham Kromah, appointing him to lead a new national taskforce aimed at dismantling illegal mining operations that have severely harmed Liberia’s environment and depleted state revenue.
Kromah will head the “Protect Our Resources Taskforce,” a multi-agency strike team established under Executive Order No. 167.
This taskforce is authorized to seize equipment, arrest violators, and dismantle illegal mining networks across the nation.
His appointment marks a shift towards a more aggressive enforcement strategy following years of unchecked environmental degradation, river pollution, and mineral smuggling.
The taskforce comprises senior security officials, including Ashford Peal, Prince Mulbah, TarnueKesselly, and Charles Johnson, alongside representatives from the Ministries of Mines and Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), and the Liberia National Police (LNP).
Their mandate is to restore government control over mining areas and enforce laws swiftly and effectively.
The Executive Order mandates the taskforce to publicly report enforcement actions and submit quarterly updates to the President, a measure designed to enhance transparency and public trust.
With Kromah at the helm, the administration is pursuing a hardline approach to reclaim Liberia’s mineral resources and combat the powerful networks behind illegal mining.
