Lofa Students Association in Rwanda (LOSAR) has commended their county Senator Momo T. Cyrus.
Recently, Cyrus provided US$1,400 in financial assistance to support Lofa students in Rwanda. The students are reportedly in financial deadlock at their respective universities.
Sen. Cyrus’ contribution forms part of LOSAR’s fundraising initiative to help financially challenged students settle outstanding fees, and other educational obligations.
Cyrus’ support followed an appeal from Lofa students when he recently visited Rwanda during Liberia-Rwanda football match. After meeting with the students, Sen. Cyrus contributed US$400, and pledged an additional US$1,000 upon his return to Liberia.
Upon his return, Cyrus remitted additional US$1,000 to the association’s account, bringing his total contribution to US$1,400.
LOSAR said, Cyrus’ gesture demonstrates his commitment to promote education, and support human resource development among young people from Lofa County, both at home and abroad.
He has meanwhile, pledged to work with the Lofa Legislative Caucus to mobilize additional assistance for Lofa students studying in Rwanda.
