Students of the Chief Compound Community Public School in Gbarnga, Bong County, are sitting on bare ground floor as they faced their instructors.
The situation comes against the background of inadequate supply of chairs to the school.
By that, some of the students are forced to sit on classroom floors during lessons.
A recent visit to the school revealed the extent of the furniture shortage, with students struggling to find adequate seating as they attend classes.
Some students were observed sitting directly on the floor, while others were using broken benches that provided limited space and comfort.
A few students have reportedly brought their parents personal chairs to enable them comfortably participate in class activities.
The situation has raised concerns among students, and school authorities, who say, the shortage of chairs, not only affected the students, but created an uncomfortable learning environment.
Some children from families that cannot afford to purchase chairs have stopped attending classes, “because they have no proper place to sit.”
The shortage has left some classrooms with students sharing limited seating arrangements, while others are forced to remain on the floor throughout lessons.
School authorities say, the situation presents challenges for the school, particularly for students, who struggle to concentrate and participate effectively in classroom activities without adequate furniture.
They have appealed to any well-meaning individuals, county authorities, community leaders, and organizations to provide chairs for the school.
For the students, the appeal is straightforward: they need chairs to sit in classrooms, and learn with greater comfort and dignity.
