Former Executive Mansion Chief of Protocol under ex-President George Weah, Finda Bundoo, has delivered an emotional and reflective speech during the funeral of her late father, using the occasion to express gratitude to those who stood by her during what she described as one of the most difficult periods of her life.
Bundoo revealed that the challenges she faced in recent months had taught her valuable lessons, declaring that she had learned her lesson while thanking individuals who supported her when she felt abandoned.
In an emotional tribute, she singled out former lawmaker Thomas Fallah for standing by her during her ordeal.
According to her, Fallah defended her when others turned away, reminding her that she was “his own.”
She publicly thanked him for his loyalty and support beyond political differences.
She also extended appreciation to the Government of Liberia and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, saying she was grateful for being allowed to bury her father.
While emphasizing that God comes first, Bundoo acknowledged the government for allowing the funeral to proceed.
However, Bundoo alleged that some people wanted her imprisoned instead of attending her father’s burial.
She claimed there were individuals who wished to see her at the Monrovia Central Prison, commonly known as South Beach, rather than paying her final respects to her father.
Questioning the circumstances surrounding her ordeal, Bundoo emotionally asked, “What wrong did I do?” as she reflected on the hardships she said she had endured.
She thanked former Foreign Affairs Minister Dee-Maxwell SaahKemayah and former Minister of State Nathaniel McGill for reaching out to her during what she described as a heartbreaking period, saying their words of encouragement provided comfort when many others remained silent.
Addressing those who did not contact her, Bundoo said she held no bitterness, adding that she would leave everything in God’s hands.
She also prayed for those she claimed wanted her imprisoned, expressing hope that God would save them.
Bundoo stressed that she owed no one anything and repeated that she was simply thankful to God for bringing her through the difficult period.
Reflecting on the loss of her father, she reminded mourners that parents remain irreplaceable regardless of their social or economic status.
She emphasized that whether rich or poor, parents deserve love, honor, and respect.
She concluded by expressing appreciation to everyone who supported her family throughout the funeral arrangements and during their time of grief, describing their solidarity as a source of strength.
The funeral ceremony brought together a broad cross-section of Liberian society, including former and current government officials, members of the transitional leadership, political figures, local stakeholders, and international partners, who gathered to pay their final respects to the late patriarch.
