Orange Liberia has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and national development through its sponsorship of 100 youth through the Emerging Leaders Summer School (ELSS) 2026 initiative.
The program is a flagship initiative designed to equip young Liberians with leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation and digital skills.
At the orientation and official opening ceremony of ELSS 2026, held over the weekend in Paynesville, Orange Liberia Communication Manager, Madam Mabel Mason, emphasized that the company’s investment in youth development goes far beyond providing telecommunications services, adding “we go beyond network connectivity, and building human connectivity.”
“We are connecting young people to opportunities, knowledge and the skills they need to become the leaders and innovators who will shape Liberia’s future,” Madam Mason said.
She disclosed that the ELSS brought together promising young leaders from across Liberia to participate in intensive learning and capacity-building programs, which is aimed at preparing them for leadership roles in their communities and professions.
Accordingly, Orange Liberia views the ELSS as more than just a training program, as it is a preparation and transformative initiative for young people.
“We are investing in human capital and empowering a generation that will drive Liberia’s social and economic development,” she said.
She further highlighted the role of the Orange Digital Center (ODC), which serves as a hub for digital education, entrepreneurship, innovation and employability.
She than encouraged participants to take advantage of the center’s programs, to further strengthen their digital and entrepreneurial skills, adding “participants can also make use of our Max it, it’s an all-in-one digital super app.”
The app is designed to provide users with convenient access to digital services and promote greater participation in the digital economy.
Madam Mason noted that Orange support for ELSS aligns with its Middle East and Africa’s strategic vision “Trust the Future,” which focuses on investing in people, fostering innovation and creating opportunities that contribute to sustainable development.
She also encouraged the participants to fully embrace the opportunity presented to them through the ELSS program, adding that the future is not something that they should wait for, but must build upon.
“The knowledge, networks and experiences gained through this program have the potential to transform not only individual lives, but also the future of Liberia,” she said.
She than extended Orange Liberia appreciation to the Youth Development Agency, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and all partners involved in organizing the initiative.
She continues: “As one of Liberia’s leading telecommunications companies, Orange Liberia continued to demonstrate its commitment to empowering young people through education, innovation, digital inclusion and leadership development.”
The company maintains that investing in youth remains one of the most effective ways to build a stronger, more inclusive and prosperous Liberia.
“When we invest in our youth, we invest in Liberia’s future. And at Orange Liberia, we believe that there Is always a win.”
For his part, the Executive Director of ELSS program, Robert Gboluma, also outlined the objectives and operational framework of the initiative, emphasizing that the role of ELSS is aimed at shaping the minds of responsible and effective young leaders for Liberia’s future.
The program, organized by the Youth Development Agency, with support from Liberian government and Orange Liberia, was officially launched at the Monrovia Learning Center in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia for 100 young people, and will run from June 19 to August 12, 2026.
