The Ministry of Youth and Sports has intensified efforts to ensure that qualified young people benefit from the ongoing empowerment initiatives.
The exercise followed an assessment, and verification in Grand Kru County.
The Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M and E) team conducted the exercise at the County Youth Center.
It brought together young people from various backgrounds, including persons with disabilities, and at-risk youth.
Youth and Sports Ministry M and E Officer George P. Carr, said, the exercise was designed to strengthen the Ministry’s monitoring system, and ensure that beneficiaries of its programs are properly identified, verified, and captured in the national database.
Carr said, the Ministry is currently implementing several youth-focused initiatives, including the vacation program, small-scale grant program, and cadet program.
He explained how the Ministry’s responsibility goes beyond launching programs, stressing the need to continuously monitor their performance, engage beneficiaries, ensure compliance, and determine whether the intended young people are actually benefiting.
Carr commended the young people of Grand Kru for their huge turnout, and urged beneficiaries to take the programs seriously, saying: their participation, and commitment could create opportunities for future empowerment initiatives.
The beneficiaries, meanwhile, expressed appreciation to government for the level of support being provided through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
