Youth and Sports Minister, Cornelia W. Kruah’s earlier criticism of former President George Weah, has faced with renewed scrutiny.
The situation has stalled the construction of Grand Kru County sports stadium.
For that, the county now waits for the sports stadium, which she promised ahead of this year’s National County Sports Meet (NCSM).
Minister Kruah had criticized the former administration for failing to provide sports infrastructure that she argued, could be delivered under the Unity Party-led government.
Her promise to Grand Kru subsequently raised expectations that the county would finally receive a major sports facility.
But with August now underway, and November’s County Meet approaching, the promised stadium has become a stalled test, making residents to think as to whether Minister Kruah’s words will translate into action.
For residents, the issue is increasingly simple. If the previous government failed to deliver, will the current government build the stadium?
The absence of visible progress has left residents questioning the status of the project, and whether it can realistically be completed before the County Meet.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has an opportunity to settle the questions by providing a clear update on the stadium’s construction, funding, contractor, timeline, and expected completion date.
Until then, Minister Kruah’s earlier criticism of the former administration remains an uncomfortable backdrop to a promise that Grand Kru residents are still waiting to see the project materialize.
