The poverty-stricken residents constructed the six-room clinic with their bare hands in the absence of external assistance only to save the lives of the locals.

Tired of empty promises, residents of Yobobloken Community have picked up bricks, hammers and hope.

They have launched construction of a six-room clinic to bring healthcare to Karluway District #2, and over five nearby communities along the Cavalla River belt.

For years, patients were carried for hours to distant health centers. Emergency cases often ended in tragedy. Now, the community is writing its own solution.

During an assessment tour on June 4, 2026, a community member, Joseph Nuysawn said, leaders and residents raised funds internally to build the facility.

Government support, Nuysawn said, has remained missing despite repeated appeals.

“The need for a clinic in this community is critical. For that reason, residents had struggled to transport their sick to nearby health facilities whenever emergency medical conditions occurred.”

Nuysawn added: “Many people continue to promise support, but nothing has been done to improve healthcare services for the people living here.”

Once completed, the clinic will be turned over to the Ministry of Health.

The goal is to ensure professional medical care for Yobobloken, and surrounding hamlets that have gone too long without it.

The project shows what’s possible when a community refuses to wait. With no clinic for miles, Yobobloken is building one room by room, sacrifice by sacrifice.

As construction continues, residents say they are not just building walls, but building a future where no mother has to watch her child suffer for lack of a nearby clinic.
