Sinoe County Superintendent, Alexander Nah Sleweon, has expressed deep concerns regarding the rising number of Burkinabe nationals in the county.
In a one-on-one interview with journalists in Paynesville on Tuesday, August 4, Sleweon highlighted the socio-economic implications of the influx.
He said, the growing Burkinabe population could place strain on local resources, including healthcare, education, and employment opportunities.
His remarks come at a time when local leaders, and community members increasingly spoke about challenges associated with the arrival of the Burkinabe nationals.
“The rise in Burkinabe nationals in our county is a matter of concern. We must recognize that this influx can impact our infrastructure, and resources. We need to address these challenges before they escalate.”
To mitigate the situation, Sleweon has called for the establishment of a government taskforce to assess the current circumstances, and develop policies to facilitate the effective integration of Burkinabe nationals into communities.
Sleweon underscored the necessity for collaboration between government, and local authorities.
He said, a coordinated response was essential to tackle the challenges arising from the demographic shift.
“Working together is crucial; we need a united approach that fosters understanding, and cooperation among local residents. Programs that promote cultural exchange, and mutual respect can help create a harmonious community while ensuring that the needs of all residents are addressed.”
Sleweon assured the public that he, and his office staff have actively engaged relevant authorities to find solutions to the challenges posed by the coming of the aliens.
