Montserrado County District #3 Representative Sumo Mulbah has called on Liberians to remain vigilant against political opportunism that threatens ongoing progress.
Mulbah said, the growing disillusionment with opposition politicians who, according to him, are more interested in power struggles than in fostering real development for the country.
“If Liberia fails, there will be no District #3 to protect.”
Mulbah emphasized the importance of collective awareness among citizens.
He also urged them to see beyond local concerns, and recognize the implications of political actions on the future.
On the current political landscape, Mulbah criticizes opposition leaders, who once condemned former President George Weah for his governance style, labeling him as “unqualified, and ineffective.”
He noted how these same leaders have engaged in clandestine meetings with the Weah, seeking political alignments that appear opportunistic.
“The same water that scalds the pig is the water that washes the pig,” he states, illustrating the duplicity he perceives in the actions of the same politicians.

He argues that the grievances voiced by these leaders have not rooted in the pressing issues of electricity shortages, poor infrastructure, or poverty, but rather in a “desire for personal gain.”
He contends that the focus should be on advancing constructive ideas, and solutions to attract investments, and improve the lives of ordinary Liberians.
Mulbah further critiques the notion that effective leadership requires holding a presidential title, asserting that true patriotism involves taking initiative regardless of one’s political standing.
He meanwhile, called on opposition figures to redirect their efforts to create jobs, build businesses, and improve educational facilities, instead of engaging in “self-serving political maneuvers.”
