The Capitol Building which is the seat of the Legislature was a scene of joy and sorrow when the casket bearing the corpse of Nimbia County Senator Prince Y Johnson who died on 8th November at the age of 72 was laid in state. Sen. Johnson who was also referred to as the ‘god father and Hero of Nimbia County due to his many contributions to the people of Nimbia is now finally going to be laid to rest on Saturday, 18th January in Gompa City, Nimbia County. As protocol dictates, the fallen senator was laid in state, where scores of Liberians paid tributes; mostly government officials. And one of those whose life was reportedly impacted by the fallen Hero of Nimbia County is Vice President Jeremiah Koung. He rained praises on his fallen Hero, stating that his political achievements today were due to the guidance of the late senator whom he referred to as his political godfather. VP. Koung also recounted numbers of encouragements giving him by the man he referred to as godfather, citing his achievements today as Vice President was all instrumented by the late senator and that he will forever remember him and also continue to keep his legacy alive. He, at same time, told the gathering that Senator Johnson asked him to steer the affairs of the county, as he (Johnson) was getting older and needed someone to take over from him in times like these. Among many tributes were those from the Nimbia County Legislative Caucus who also praised the late Senator for his numerous contributions to society and the county at large, stressing that his interest in providing education for the youthful generation cannot be overemphasized The Caucus maintained that as members of the County Legislative Caucus, they have decided to continue his legacy through education. At the same time, members of both houses paid tributes, recounting his contributions to the Legislature and the nation.
