The Pleebo City Corporation (PCC), has officially launched a comprehensive 14-day security and safety training program for PCC staff.

The training is part of broader preparations for Christmas and New Year festivities.

It was launched in partnership with the Liberia National Police (LNP).

The training, which marked the second phase of PCC’s ongoing safety initiative, brought together city workers, police officers, traffic wardens, and community safety volunteers.

The aim is to improve coordination among the various actors responsible for maintaining law and order during the festive season; a period often characterized by increased movement of people, heightened commercial activities, and a rise in road-related incidents.

PCC authorities said, the exercise focuses primarily on road safety education for pedestrians, commercial drivers, tricycle operators, and motorcyclists.

These groups make up the highest percentage of road users in Pleebo, especially during holidays when traffic congestion intensifies and compliance with safety rules typically declines.

The training seeks to reduce the number of accidents, promote responsible road behavior, and ensure the safe movement of residents and visitors throughout the season.

Pleebo City Mayor Larry G. Geekor, said the training is part of PCC’s long-term strategy to strengthen city governance, and improve the enforcement of municipal regulations.

Geekor said the festive season often prompts an influx of travelers, and businesses into Pleebo, demanding extra vigilance from city authorities.

Meanwhile, LNP Pleebo Detachment Commander Isaac Suku, hailed the initiative as timely and necessary.

Suku said the collaboration between the police and the PCC demonstrates a proactive approach to safeguard lives and property.

The training sessions included practical demonstrations, awareness campaigns, and community outreach activities designed to educate the wider public.
