Over Thousand Employees To Be Retired
The Civil Service Agency (CSA) has announced a strategic reform initiative aimed at retiring employees in 2024. Director-General Josiah Joekai stated that the CSA, in collaboration with the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), is enhancing internal procedures to facilitate the smooth transition of eligible civil servants from the government payroll to NASSCORP’s pension system. “We have identified approximately 1,500 employees eligible for retirement from 30 ministries, agencies, and commissions,” Director-General Joekai confirmed. Joekai added that the CSA is coordinating with government entities to finalize retirement listings by July 17, 2024, which is expected to increase the total number of retirees for Fiscal Year 2024. Acknowledging the challenges retirees face, Joekai highlighted the CSA’s commitment to providing Handshake Packages and counseling services to support a positive transition. He emphasized the importance of NASSCORP’s role in alleviating financial burdens through retirement pensions, while acknowledging ongoing challenges in benefit disbursement. “Affected employees will remain on paid leave from August to October 2024, with retirement benefits commencing in November 2024,” Joekai announced. Additionally, the CSA plans to conduct nationwide pre-retirement counseling and motivational workshops by mid-August 2024, with official communication of workshop timelines and reform strategies expected by July 25, 2024. Joekai urged stakeholders involved in the retirement process to remain patient and assured them of timely resolution of their benefits and related concerns. By: Perry B. Zordyu/Ablee-Jay TV
