The Office of the Cabinet Secretariat at the Executive Mansion, has commended the National Bureau of Concession (NBC) for its strong role in the government Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS).
The Cabinet Secretariat also recognized the institution’s continued efforts in strengthening compliance, institutional accountability, and effective public-sector management.
The admiration was directed at the NBC under the leadership of its Director General Hanson Kiazolu, whose administration has been credited for advancing the Bureau’s compliance effects, and improve its overall performance against established government standards.
The recognition from the Office of the Cabinet Secretariat is being viewed as an important achievement of the NBC’s commitment to meet its institutional obligations, and aligned operations with performance, and accountability objectives of the government.
The Performance Management and Compliance System, is designed to promote efficiency, accountability, result-oriented governance, and compliance in all government institutions.
It is being observed that through the system, public entities are assessed on their ability to meet agreed performance targets, fulfill reporting obligations, and demonstrate progress in implementing institutional priorities.
NBC’s high score in the PMCS, according to a release, represents a significant achievement for the institution, particularly as government continued to place greater emphasis on measurable performance, transparency and institutional effectiveness.
Of recent, NBC has focused on strengthening its internal system, and ensure that the Bureau effectively carryout its mandate in the management, monitoring, and compliance of concession agreements.
The Cabinet Secretariat’s recognition is also expected to encourage NBC to sustain its current momentum, and further improve its performance in subsequent assessment.
The Bureau is expected to build on the achievement by strengthening its monitoring, and evaluation mechanisms, improve institutional reporting, and ensure continued adherence to the performance standards established by the government.
The Office of the Cabinet Secretariat’s commendation ultimately underscored the importance of compliance, and result-based management in advancing the public-sector institutions, and reinforce NBC’s role as an entity committed to deliver on its statutory responsibilities.
