Musa Bility Quits LP Chairmanship
The Liberty Party (LP) has officially named Representative Rugie Yartu Barry as its new Chairperson, following the resignation of outgoing Chairman Musa Bility. Barry, who served as the Vice Chairperson for Administration, automatically ascended to the role by the party’s constitution. Her appointment comes as the LP embarks on a national reconciliation process, spearheaded by a Joint Reconciliation Committee established by former Chairman and Pro-Temp Senator Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence. This initiative is aimed at fostering unity within the party and is nearing the end of its initial phase, which involves the drafting of a guiding resolution for the nationwide reconciliation efforts. In a statement released on Wednesday, signed by its Secretary General, Martin Saye Kollah, the Liberty Party reassured its members and supporters that under Barry’s leadership, the committee will continue its work to finalize the reconciliation process and organize a special national convention, as proposed by the Joint Reconciliation Committee. The LP’s National Secretariat has committed to keeping all partisans and the general public informed about the progress of the reconciliation initiative, focusing on maintaining the party’s hopes and aspirations. On Tuesday, outgoing Chairman Musa Bility announced his resignation to members of the Executive Committee and the public, emphasizing the fulfilling yet challenging journey he experienced during his three years at the helm. “It has been an incredible privilege to lead the LP National Executive Committee, and I have been blessed to be part of a group committed to building a political institution rooted in inclusivity, democracy, and the rule of law,” he stated. The Liberty Party’s Executive Committee expressed gratitude for Bility’s service and wished him success in his future political endeavors.
