Mont. District Five Rep. Candidate Claims Threat On His Life

A representative candidate in District # Five, Montserrado County, has claimed that his life has constantly been threatened by some unknown men. Speaking from his Police Academy office in Paynesville, Melvin Tolbert said he received a text message from an unknown person that asked him to step away from the Representative race within District Five or risks being killed.

Mr. Tolbert also a former Training Officer of the Armed Forces of Liberia said he is not deterred by any amount of threats, stating that he is a Certificated and Certified Candidate by the National Elections Commission (NEC). According to him, anyone who puts the life of his family in danger will not go free, stressing that said person would face the weight of the law of Liberia.  Tolbert who is a professional and trained ex-AFL Soldier entered into Liberia’s politics in District Five with his manifesto of five Legislative Agenda- Quality Education aimed at empowering young people to have sound minds and make them self-independent, Security, Good Health-Care, Good Leadership ability to make independent decision in moving the district forward and Labour Advocacy.  Mr. Tolbert has therefore called on the Liberian Government, international partners and civil society organizations, religious leaders, the NEC, and all concerned groups to intervene and take prompt action that would bring the perpetrators to book in other to put this situation to rest.
