Lone Star Mobilization Team Launches US$10M Fund Drive

The Lone Star Mobilization Team has launched a nationwide appeal to raise US$10 million to support the national football team as it prepares for the 2027 international football campaign.
The appeal comes amid growing concerns about the country’s ability to adequately finance its senior national team, the Lone Star, ahead of crucial international fixtures.
The Co-chairlady, Cassandra Hampton, told a news conference on Thursday, July 30, that Lone Star urgently requires financial support from the government, and private citizens.
The money would be used to ensure the team is fully prepared for upcoming competitions.
Madam Hampton: “The national team is facing financial challenges that could affect player preparation, training, logistics, and overall performance if adequate funding is not secured.”
She stressed the need for increased budgetary support, which is essential to keep Liberia competitive on the international stage.
The appeal comes as the Lone Star prepares to face Rwanda, and Mali in key international matches scheduled for September, and October.
Madam Hampton spoke of the fixtures’ importance, which she said, demands investment in players’ welfare, and technical preparations.
She further noted that Liberia has been placed in a highly competitive qualification group for the 2027 football season, making it imperative for the country to strengthen its preparations well in advance.
