Officers of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) assigned in Maryland County have received a major logistical boost.

The support is to allow the officers strengthen border management, and daily operations, as plans are finalized to renovate its sub-offices, and border posts.

LIS Maryland County Commander, Abdul Jallahquay, made the disclosure on Sunday, October 4.

Items the LIS received are office equipment, assorted stationery, and 100 sets of complete uniform.

The items were officially presented by the LIS Comptroller and Director for Administration, Patrick Dolo.

The presentation followed the conclusion of a three-day national security training held in Gbarnga, Bong County.

Jallahquay described the supply as the largest the command has received since he assumed leadership in Maryland.

He noted that for months, officers struggled with inadequate logistics, and lack of uniform consistency at checkpoints.

“This is the first time since I took over as commander that we have received such a huge supply. This will help our officers to be uniformed, professional, and effective in discharging their duties.”

Jallahquay added that the new uniforms will restore professional appearance, discipline, and public confidence in immigration officers serving at their respective assignments.

He has meanwhile, announced that renovation of all LIS sub-offices in the county will begin next year.

He revealed how a high-level technical delegation from LIS headquarters recently concluded a comprehensive assessment of all LIS facilities in the county, including major border offices in Pedebo, and Kablaken.
