The Chairperson of the Women’s Legislative Caucus of Madam Ellen Attoh Wreh, has led a team of legislators on an official courtesy visit to the reopened Embassy of Liberia in New Delhi, India.

The Liberian delegation is in India from August 10–15, 2026, for engagements focused on peer learning, women’s leadership, governance, and development cooperation.

The visit formed part of the delegation’s ongoing IBSA South-South Peer Learning Mission to India, which brought together members of the Senate, and House of Representatives.

The lawmakers are to explore opportunities for legislative, diplomatic, economic, and development cooperation between Liberia and India.

During the visit, Madam Wreh welcomed government’s decision to reopen its diplomatic mission in India after 35 years.

She described the move as an important milestone in strengthening Liberia’s engagement with India, and advance the foreign policy interests.

Madam Wreh commended President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for a “visionary decision to restore Liberia’s diplomatic presence in India.”

She also applauded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for successfully executing the reopening of the mission.

Moreover, she expressed optimism that the reopening of the Embassy will provide a stronger platform for expanding Liberia-India relations, particularly in the areas of trade, and investment, education, healthcare, agriculture, technology, women’s empowerment, parliamentary diplomacy, and South-South cooperation.

Madam Wreh said, Liberia’s renewed diplomatic presence in India comes at a critical time when the two countries are seeking to deepen practical cooperation, and exchange knowledge, and experiences for national development.
