LDEA Intensifies Anti Drugs Peddling
The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency in Grand Bassa County has arrested a 37-year-old man with narcotics substances called tubes. Mark Verdier, a seaport police officer was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024, at the Compound Three police checkpoint in Electoral District Four. Nathan Cole, the LDEA deputy commander assigned to the checkpoint, said the drugs were sealed up in a bag of rice intercepted by the police as Verdier attempted to cross the gate. The officer put the cost of the drugs at over 1- hundred thousand Liberian dollars. In an interview with suspect Verdier, he said he was carrying goods to his wife at St. John and a Nigerian man gave him a half bag of rice to carry to his brother. According to him, he never knew that the Nigerian man put the drugs in the rice bag.
