LACE Assesses Legislative Support Project Across Liberia
The Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) has dispatched several personnel across the 15 political subdivisions of Liberia to carry out assessments of the Legislative Support Project (LSP) for over 308 projects submitted to LACE by various lawmakers. According to a statement from LACE dated August 10, 2024, the projects comprise Market Buildings, Town Halls, Youth Centers, Women Centers, Bridges, Box Culverts, Road Rehabilitations, and Schools. The statement added that the projects will be constructed in all 15 political sub-divisions across Liberia. The statement also noted that the project is not limited to only infrastructure but also extends to procurement of yellow machines, buses, payment of tuition fees, awarding of various scholarships both in academic and Vocational Training Schools and related activities. The release narrated that the LSP project is funded by the Government of Liberia through the Upper and Lower Houses of the National Assembly to intervene in developmental initiatives in their various counties and districts. The release further stated that LACE has received a total of 308 projects from lawmakers so far, which are now being advertised in newspapers to encourage construction firms in Liberia to bid for the construction of these projects in an effective and timely manner. The LACE statement cited that budgetary allotment is provided by the Government of Liberia in the tune of approximately US$11.2M and will be implemented by LACE. LACE is an autonomous agency with the primary goal of engendering national initiatives and strategies geared towards alleviating poverty and reaching the Millennium Development Goals in Liberia through Community Driven Development (CDD).
