The statement disclosed that the delegation was invited to Liberia by LACRA to discuss the possibility of reactivating the Country’s membership with IACO and partnership to revamp the coffee sector of Liberia. During the meeting, the Liberian leader promised to fully support the agency in achieving its membership status which he said will help to revamp the country‘s coffee sector. He hailed LACRA for its efforts to put Liberia on par with other African Nations in coffee production. The release noted that President Boakai welcomed the delegation, hoping that the institution will begin seeing the possibility to provide capacity building for young people around Africa to take over the agricultural sector. According to the statement, the IACO delegation was represented by Ambassador Solomon Rutega and Dr. Celestine Gataryiha, Secretary General and Director of Research and Development respectively. Liberia joined IACO in 1972, but its membership has been dormant as a result of the civil conflict that engulfed the country.
