LACC, LNP Hold Anti-Corruption Meeting

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) and the Liberia National Police (LNP) have concluded a meeting aimed at intensifying collaboration and sharing critical knowledge in the fight against corruption. According to a statement from the LACC dated July 22, 2024, the LACC Executive Chairperson Cllr. Alexandra Zoe disclosed that the meeting with Inspector General (IG) Gregory Coleman signaled a significant step towards joint efforts to fight against corruption. The discussion, according to the release, was centered on mutual cooperation and the strengthening of efforts to uphold integrity and transparency within the nation’s institutions.  “The Executive Chairperson emphasized the importance of a unified approach to tackling corruption and praised the Inspector General and his team for their dedication to law enforcement and public service”, the statement noted. At the same time, Police IG Coleman expressed his commitment to supporting the LACC’s initiatives as he highlighted the crucial role the police force plays in investigating and preventing corruption. According to the communication both parties acknowledged that fostering strong inter-agency relationships and sharing best practices are vital to achieving sustainable progress in curbing corruption. “This meeting is a testament to the LACC’s continuous efforts to build strategic partnerships across various sectors, ensuring a holistic approach to eradicating corruption and promoting good governance in Liberia,” The LACC communication stated. It added that the LACC stands firm and looks forward to ongoing cooperation with the Liberian National Police and other key stakeholders in working together to create a corruption-free Liberia.
