Residents of Kuyon Town in Bong County have strongly criticized Senator Prince Kermue Moye for his continued neglect of a collapsed road link that has left the community struggling with access and transportation challenges.
Some of the residents say, the culvert and access road leading into the town remain in a severely damaged condition; a situation they claimed, has persisted for years without any meaningful intervention from the senator’s office.
The road link was damaged during the 2020 campaign period due to frequented “political convoys,” and has since remained unrepaired. The road has since remained cut off thus impeding smooth movement in and out of the town, especially during the rainy season.
Some of the residents, who have become so frustrated told reporters recently who disappointed they are over the prolonged silence from their elected representative despite repeated appeals for help.
“We are suffering here every year when it rains. The road is bad, the culverts are broken, and nobody is coming to fix it.”
Others accused the senator of ignoring the community after securing political office, saying: “The situation has damaged trust between residents and their lawmaker.”
“What pains us the most is not only the condition of the road, but the fact that we are being ignored,” another resident remarked.
Community members say, the situation has affected daily life in Kuyon Town, including access to markets, schools, and medical services, forcing residents to take risky routes during emergencies.
Local leaders have meanwhile, called on relevant government institutions to urgently assess the road condition, and intervene before the situation worsens further.
While Sen. Moye is yet to address the road concern, residents have warned that continued neglect could further isolate the community and deepen hardship for residents already facing challenges.
