The gathering of youth, under the banner, “The JNB First Time Voters,” on Saturday, October 17, conducted a day-long volunteer cleanup exercise at the Lofa County Superintendent’s Compound in Voinjama City.

The exercise was to promote environmental cleanliness, youth participation, and community development programs.

It converged dozens of young people, who worked collectively and cleaned the compound; demonstrating their commitment to volunteerism, and contributing to a clean and healthy environment.

The chairman, James T. Koikoi, called on more young people in the county to join the organization, and participate in activities that would strengthen its growth and community engagement.

Koikoi appreciated individuals supporting the organization, and commended the young people, who turned out for the cleanup exercise.

“We want to encourage more young people to join this organization. We appreciate everyone who is supporting us, and we thank all the youth who gathered here today for this work.”

Meanwhile, Lofa County Development Officer, Francis Egu Lasanah, praised the young people for the initiative. He described their participation as a “positive contribution” to community development.

Lasanah encouraged the group to sustain its volunteer efforts, and become more actively involved in community-based initiatives to promote unity ahead of 2029.

He also urged the young people to support government development programs through volunteerism, cooperation, and collective action.

Some participants expressed satisfaction with their involvement, which they described as an opportunity to give back to their community as they also promote youth empowerment, and environmental responsibility.

The exercise concluded with renewed calls for unity, volunteerism, and sustained youth engagement to promote environmental cleanliness, and community development throughout the county.
