Six armed men reportedly raided the Yamazen Nature Rubber buying station in Totota, Lower Bong County, in the early hours of Saturday, August 15.
They marauding gunmen made away with (about) US$33,000 in cash, a vehicle, unspecified amount of Liberian dollars, and other valuables.
The attack reportedly occurred at around 1: a.m., when the armed men entered the facility, and held a Chinese national at gunpoint.
According to police, the attackers demanded money, and other valuables from people inside the facility before fleeing with the items.
The incident prompted Bong County Police Operations Section Commander Superintendent, Chris N. Gono, and a team of officers to respond to the scene.
Police said, the attackers escaped using a vehicle, which they commandeered from the rubber-buying station.
The vehicle was later discovered abandoned along the road after being used to transport the suspects away from the scene.
Security personnel at the facility told investigators that the six attackers wore masks over their faces during the robbery.
The masks reportedly made it difficult for witnesses, and security personnel to identify any of the suspects.
Gono said, the suspects remain at large, while the Liberia National Police has launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the robbery, and identify those responsible.
Police have intensified efforts to locate, and apprehend the suspects.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about security at commercial facilities in Totota, and surrounding communities, particularly businesses that handle significant amounts of cash.
Rubber trading remains an important economic activity, supporting farmers, traders, and commercial operators in rural communities.
Residents are now waiting for authorities to establish how the attackers entered the facility, how they escaped, and whether they had prior knowledge of the money reportedly kept at the station.
Authorities have appealed for information that could help identify, or locate the suspects. Investigation remains active.
