The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Aid Project has delivered a major boost to agriculture in Fuamah District, Bong County.
The implements valued at approximately US$15,000 were donated to the Fuamah District Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
The tools include two power tillers, two tricycles, seeding, and spraying equipment. They are to strengthen agricultural activities, and improve productivity among farmers in the district.
The intervention comes at a time when many farmers continue to face difficulties accessing modern agricultural equipment, limiting their ability to expand production, and improve their livelihoods.
On behalf of UAE Aid Project, Ambrose Forpoh said, the donation forms part of the project’s closing package to strengthen farming activities, and provide practical support to farmers.
Forpoh urged members of the cooperative to use the equipment responsibly, and ensure that all donated materials are properly maintained.
He called for the proper management of the equipment, which he said, would be essential to ensure the tools deliver long-term benefits, and contributes to increased agricultural production.
The donated power tillers are expected to provide farmers with greater access to mechanized farming services, while the tricycles could help address transportation challenges associated with moving agricultural inputs, and produce.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Fuamah District Multipurpose Cooperative Society, headed by Joseph Moore, has expressed appreciation to the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates, and the UAE Aid Project for supporting the cooperative.
The UAE Aid Project’s intervention is therefore, expected to provide additional support to the cooperative, and strengthen its capacity to assist farmers.
