Front Third Edith Gongloe-Weh Concedes

Mrs. Edith Gongloe-Weh, the lone female candidate in the just-ended Nimba County Senatorial by-election, has conceded (accepted), thus confirming the winning of Representative Samuel Gongbein Kogar’s to the seat.

Edith conceded ahead of the National Elections Commission releasing the final result of the April 22, 2025, senatorial by-election.

Edith told a news conference on Thursday, April 24 in Ganta, that report from her β€˜war-room’ it is clear that Representative Samuel G. Kogar has won the election with 96 percent of data in her possession.

She, meanwhile called on her supporters to refrain from making any statements or posting negative things on social media against anyone connected to the electoral process.

In latest development, the NEC has officially declared Rep. Kogar a winner of the race.

Kogar secured 62,136 votes constituting 52.08 percent over his main rival, independent candidate Edith Gongloe Weh, who obtained 40, 506 votes constituting 33.95 percent of the total votes.

The by-election was held to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Senator Prince Y. Johnson, who died on November 28, 2024, at his residence in Paynesville.

Kogar is set to serve the remaining seven years of the term left behind by Senator Johnson (deceased), a prominent figure who was known for his deep connection and dedication to Nimba County.
