The Unity Party Legislative Caucus has commended government for providing ‘free education’ for government-runs kindergarten, and primary schools.

At a press briefing in Monrovia recently, the Caucus Chairman, Representative Robert Womba of Bong County District #4, described the initiative as a landmark achievement, which demonstrates government’s commitment to expand access to education, and ease the financial burden on families.

Womba: “The free education policy is a bold, and people-centered intervention to increase enrollment, and ensure that more children have access to quality early education.”

He stressed the need for education to remain one of the most effective tools for national development, and human capacity building.

Rep. Womba said, the free education policy will also remove financial barriers to early childhood, and primary education.

“The government is creating greater opportunities for the children to acquire the knowledge, and skills necessary to become productive citizens, and future leaders that will positively impact the society.”

Womba meanwhile, called on parents, and guardians to take advantage of the initiative by enrolling their children in public schools.

Womba is of the opinion that the policy will significantly contribute to the long-term growth, and prosperity by strengthening the educational foundation, and preparing young people for future opportunities.
