By All Indications, President Joseph Nyumah Boakai is doing his best to lift the face of the country through visible infrastructural development, and other national initiatives.
Even At His advanced age, Boakai continues to endure demanding schedules, and sleepless nights in an effort to fulfill his promises in the best interest of the Liberian state, and its people.
Across The Country, the marks of his administration in terms of tangible development are becoming increasingly visible, and measurable.
However, It Cannot be denied that some individuals around the President may be pursuing personal interests, and could potentially misadvise him against the genuine intent of his administration’s rescue mission.
For Instance, Reports have emerged linking the names of some prominent individuals within the government to the ongoing drug case. Such reports, whether ultimately proven or disproven, deserve serious attention, because of the potential consequences for the credibility of the government.
Where There Is smoke, there may be fire; therefore, the matter should not be dismissed casually. The President must ensure that no individual, regardless of position, influence, or personal relationship with him, becomes a reason for his administration to lose the confidence of the Liberian people.
Pres. Boakai Must never allow himself to go down for anyone. He should remain the symbol of hope that many Liberians believe him to be, and continue to place national interest above personal loyalty.
If Anyone Within, or around his government, is found to be connected to the illegal drug trade, the President should allow the law to take its course without shielding, protecting, or interfering on that person’s behalf.
Leadership Is Not only about celebrating achievements; it is also about having the courage to confront wrongdoing, even when those involved are close to power.
The President’s Legacy must ultimately be defined by the choices he makes when difficult moments arise. He must therefore remain vigilant, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that no individual’s misconduct becomes a burden on his presidency or a stain on the rescue mission.
May Pres. Boakai never go down for anyone. May he remain steadfast, protect the interest of Liberia, and let justice prevail without fear or favor.
