The Order of the Eastern Star (OES) has officially unveiled a newly constructed Police Safety Booth. The booth, valued at US$1,500 is constructed at the busy ELWA Junction for the Paynesville City Police. It demonstrated OES’ commitment to community development and public safety. The dedication ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at ELWA Junction in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia. The event brought together government officials, international partners, local stakeholders, community leaders and senior members of the Eastern Star. Worthy Brother Shakar Jhamnani, Chairman of the Grand Charity Committee, highlighted the organization’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian services and community welfare.
Brother Jhamnani described the Eastern Star as a charitable organization dedicated to assist communities, and support initiatives that positively impact the lives of Liberians.
He emphasized the need for the organization to remain committed and undertake projects that address critical community needs. The booth construction was inspired by the challenges faced daily by police officers, who often perform their duties under harsh weather, including heavy rain and intense sunlight. Officers stationed at the ELWA Junction are frequently exposed to unfavorable weather while directing traffic and maintaining law and order.
The new facility, will provide a safe and comfortable working environment for the officers.
In her welcome remark, Worthy Sister Agnes Wilson Perkins, Grand Charity Secretary of the Eastern Star, thanked partners and members of the organization for supporting the “successful completion of the project.” The symbolic handover, and ribbon-cutting ceremony were performed by Worthy Sister D. Sheba Brown, Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, who praised members for their dedication to service and community empowerment.
Paynesville City Mayor Henry Bestman, expressed appreciation to the Eastern Star for a “timely and meaningful contribution to the city.”
Bestman said, the booth would strengthen public safety efforts and improve working conditions for law enforcement officers.
The ceremony was attended by members of the General Grand Chapter and the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, who joined local authorities in celebrating the achievement.
The event concluded with a message promoting civic responsibility and community pride: “Your City, Your Pride; Keep It Clean, Keep It Beautiful,” a call directed to residents to work together and maintained a safe and attractive environment.
