All Lawmakers are My Bosses -HOR Press Director Clarifies By: Fiona Benson Kollie
All lawmakers are my bosses were the direct words of the House of Representatives Press Director, Roberts Hayes when responding to the allegations of a local media group, the Closing Argument, accusing him of restricting journalists on media courage at the House of Representatives. According to him, the allegations of him restricting journalists on who or what to report on at the House of Representatives by the local media group are false and misleading. He added that all the lawmakers are his bosses; he can in no way restrict any of their media courage as being insinuated by the Closing Argument. Director Hayes also said the allegation of the Closing Argument that he is restricting media courage on Representatives Yekeh Kolubah of Montserrado District #10 and Nimbia County District #7 Lawmaker Musa Bility is not true, stressing that individuals at the Closing Argument are only spreading this allegation to tarnish his hard earned reputation. “At the House of Representatives, we do not have any majority or minority bloc, what we have here is Members of the House of Representatives, so I have in no way restricted anyone on the reported courage,β Director Hayes clarified. He also said before his ascendency to the director of the House of Representatives, he was once a reporter and since, even up to now, he has never been restricted over media courage and that he will not restrict anyone on who or what to report on. Mr. Hayes further revealed that the Closing Argument allegation was instituted due to the House of Representatives press office refusal to grant individuals representing the group accreditations, stating that the Closing Argument is not a media institution but a talks-how; as such, there was no need to give the group accreditation. He further maintained that accreditations are only given to institutions not talks – how hosts, so what has been alleged on the Facebook post cast has no truth.
