The Single Parents Empowerment Network (SPEN-Liberia), has distributed educational materials to children from single-parent households.

SPEN is a non-governmental organization operating in Lofa County, but the distribution was done in Zorzor District to support beneficiaries’ educational quests as well ease financial burden on the poverty-stricken families.

The distribution exercise, held on Thursday, October 22. It congregated several single parents from communities in every part of Zorzor.
The initiative seeks to help children from single-parent families access essential school materials, and also reduce the risk of financial difficulties that often disrupted their education.

SPEN-Liberia Executive Director, Oliver Paye, highlighted the ongoing activities, and outlined plans to expand its programs to additional towns and other parts of the county.

Paye recommitted the organization to support single parents and their children.

He noted how additional initiatives are being planned for the coming years to improve the children’s welfare and living conditions.

Paye acknowledged the financial, and operational challenges facing the organization.

For that, he meanwhile, appealed to sons and daughters of the country, humanitarian organizations, and other well-meaning individuals to provide financial assistance to sustain and expand its programs.

Doing so, Paye said, would increase support to enable SPEN-Liberia extend its interventions beyond Lofa County to single-parent families in other parts of the country.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries appreciated to the organization for a timely intervention that will strengthen their educational sojourn.
