The Ministry of Health (MoH), through its Division of Pharmaceutical Services (DPS), has launched a five-day training program for 36 pharmacists, and dispensers.

The training is to improve medicine management, inventory control, and pharmaceutical supply-chain reporting.

It focused on the Logistics Management Information System (LMIS/eLMIS), and Supply, two systems used to strengthen the collection, reporting and management of pharmaceutical supply-chain information.

The initiative is to build the capacity of health workers responsible for managing, and distributing essential medicines throughout the country.

The current training follows an earlier session conducted in Grand Bassa County, where 68 participants received training in pharmaceutical supply-chain management.

The latest program targets 36 additional pharmacists, and dispensers, who have not previously received training in the systems, extending the Ministry’s capacity-building to more pharmaceutical personnel.

During the five-day exercise, participants received practical instruction through guided demonstrations, hands-on exercises, group work and action planning.

The training also emphasized the importance of accurate, and timely information in pharmaceutical supply-chain operations, particularly in monitoring stock levels and supporting decisions on medicine distribution.
