Grand Kru County Superintendent, Antoinette Worwlee Nimely, has apologized to the people of the county.
Supt. Nimely’s apologize followed the delayed in the arrival of the allocated yellow machines.
She assures residents that the equipment remains scheduled for delivery.
She told the Voice of Grand Kru Radio on Monday, July 27, how her administration regretted the disappointment caused by the delayed in the arrival of the yellow machines, which many residents had eagerly anticipated.
Supt. Nimely explained how Grand Kru was expected to benefit from the first phase of the nationwide distribution of the yellow machines, but the delivery was postponed for approximately one week due to the deteriorating condition of the Gen Bridge in Geneken, Wedabo District.
“The damaged bridge is currently considered unsafe for transporting the heavy equipment into the county, forcing authorities to delay the movement of the machines until emergency rehabilitation works are completed.”
Supt. Nimely’s apology comes amid growing excitement among the locals, as some them have taken to social media to encourage people to wear yellow clothing in anticipation of the machines’ arrival, and to appreciate President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s government for its road development initiative.
Despite the delayed, Supt. Nimely assured citizens that the county has not been left out of the government’s yellow-machine distribution program. She said, the county is expected to receive its allocation during the second phase of the exercise, alongside River Cess, and Sinoe counties, once the bridge is made safe to transport the equipment.
She further disclosed how the engineering unit of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) is expected to carry out emergency rehabilitation works on the damaged bridge to facilitate the safe movement of the machines.
Supt. Nimely has meanwhile, appealed to locals to remain calm and patient, assuring them that the county administration is working with the government to resolve the transportation challenge.
