The ceremony marked an event to foster greater youth participation in governance in the Continent. The forum, brought together young leaders, activists, and stakeholders from various African nations. It serves as a platform for discussing the role of technology and innovation in reshaping democratic processes and societal engagement.

In his opening remarks, Pres. Boakai highlighted the need for young people to demand increased involvement in governance, “because their voices are vital for the future of leadership in Africa.”

“Our young people deserve a seat at the table,” he said, underscoring the importance of their participation in civic life and decision-making processes.

Boakai reflected on the journey toward democratic governance, noting that the forum is being held at a pivotal moment in history, coinciding with a renewed focus on democratic ideals in the Continent. “This is the first time since 1944 that we have witnessed such a gathering. It is an achievement that we should all take pride in.”

The forum serves as a reminder of Africa’s demographic reality, with over 60 percent of the population under 35.  Boakai noted that the youthful demographic presents, not only challenges, but enormous potential to drive economic growth and societal change.

“Africa has the youngest population in the world, and it is our responsibility to ensure that they are equipped with the tools and knowledge to succeed.”
