A suspected love threesome (trio) turned deadly in Bong County to the extent that police have charged and forwarded a 44-year-old man to court.

Kerkulah Flomo, 44, was charged for murder of his longtime friend following a dispute over a woman.

The Liberia National Police (LNP) in Bong County formally charged Flomo, commonly known as “Big Boy,” in connection with the death of a 48-year-old, Harris Kpaikpai in Sonoyea District.

LNP Bong County Detachment Commander of Crime Services Division, James Kartoe said, the incident occurred on June 10, after tensions escalated between the two men over allegations that the victim was in extra love affairs with Flomo’s girlfriend.

Police investigators revealed that the pair were involved in a heated confrontation at about 7: p.m., during which Flomo reportedly accused Kpaikpai of maintaining a relationship with his partner.

The dispute later took a deadly turn when Flomo reportedly shot and killed Kpaikpai around midnight.

During police questioning, Flomo admitted firing a single-barrel shotgun, but claimed he did not know the identity of the person he shot.

Investigators said, Flomo told officers that while walking through a banana farm late at night, an unknown individual suddenly flashed a light in his face.

He claimed he requested that the person identify themselves, but received no response. Believing he was in danger, Flomo said, he discharged the firearm.

Police, however, concluded their investigation and subsequently charged Flomo with murder before forwarding the case to court for prosecution.

Due to difficulties communicating in English, Flomo reportedly provided his statement in the Kpelle language.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) William Johnson, and other senior officers, reaffirmed LNP’s commitment to ensure that serious crimes are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The police leadership also appealed to relatives of the deceased, particularly members of the Kpaikpai family, to remain calm and allow the judicial process to proceed without interference.

The murder case is among the latest major criminal matters the Bong County olice have forwarded to court.

On the same day, authorities also sent 24-year-old Moses Kollie to court over allegations of armed robbery in Gbarnga.

Police say, investigations into both cases have been completed, with the matters now in the hands of the court.
