Exams’ ‘Fraudsters’ Booked At WASSCE!!
…Charged, Sent To Court
This year’s writing of the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) has been disheveled in allegations of malpractices and exam frauds.
WASSCE is administered annually by the Monrovia Office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
The exams, which commenced early this month, is scheduled to end on Wednesday, June 17, but reports persisted of exams malpractices.
Some of the malpractices, according to reports, involved collection of “flexibility money” and denial of students from “attending to nature call,” etc.
Students have also complained about the “no calculators” to write the physics and mathematics tests.
In the wake those allegations, officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) have arrested, charged and forwarded to court eight individuals.
Among the individuals is one student.
They are arrested and forwarded to court in connection with reported bribes taking, unlawful rewarding of public servants, and criminal conspiracy during the writing of the ongoing 2026 WASSCE.
Investigators alleged that the group collected L$300 from each of the estimated 193 candidates at Global Net Preparatory School in the FDA community, totaling more than L$58,000 during a mathematics test session.
Those under investigation include Emily T. Flom, teacher, S and Y Faith Academy; Albertha B. Saydee, teacher, Sacom Faith Foundation; Elton Akoi Chelley, Sr., teacher, New Testament Baptist School System; Arthur Karnquee, teacher, Head Start Preparatory School; Deiker L. Paye, teacher, Cathedral Catholic School; Balima M. Subah, teacher, Confidence School System;
Anthony Y. Whykolo, teacher, Len Millar Salvation Army and
a student (name withheld.)
The case has been sent to the Monrovia City Court for prosecution, with some of the accused reportedly admitting involvement, while others have denied the allegations.
