City View Community #2 Constructs Bridge

Inhabitants of City View Community, outside Monrovia have undertaken a bridge project without funding from their district development budget.

The construction began in City View Community #2 over one of the major bridges as required by the locals themselves.

The community Chairman, Moses P. Kollie said, the current bridge under construction is the one connecting residents of nearby Bassa Town Community.

“One time a child got drown while coming from school. The child fell from the damaged monkey bridge. Therefore, we have taken our own initiative to build the bridge with covert.”

Residents themselves have decided to take up the initiative after several communications for support to the district representative failed.

He stated that his people have always encountered difficulties when the rains intensify with floods at the main entrances to the community.

The project is processed only by constant contributions collected from community residents in the midst of prevailing economic hardships.

The chairman, a member of the Chairman Council of Johnsonville Township said, the community communicated to the office of Representative Sekou S. Kanneh on two separate occasions, but to no avail.

According to him, during a meeting with the representative, he was informed about the first letter not been signed for on filed and that the second letter signed for was misplaced.

Chairman Kollie accused the representative of weak oversight, and not influential to lobby and engage in matters for the people of the City View Community #2.
