The Liberia National Police (LNP) has confirmed the arrest of three persons in connection with the disturbing video circulating on social media in which a young man was seen tied up and violently assaulted by a group of individuals.

The LNP strongly condemned the act, describing it as inhumane, unlawful, and a serious violation of the victim’s rights and dignity.

Mob violence and vigilante justice undermine the rule of law, place lives at risk, and interfere with the lawful administration of justice, the LNP has indicated.

Such conduct has no place in a democratic society and remains a criminal offense under the laws of Liberia, the LNP also emphasized.

Police authorities confirmed that the three suspects are currently under investigation in connection with the incident, while efforts continue to identify and arrest all other individuals believed to have participated in or facilitated the attack.

The LNP assured the public that all persons found responsible will be dealt with in accordance with the law. It also assured  taking appropriate measures to ensure the protection and welfare of the victim while investigative processes continue.

The LNP  made it categorically clear that no individual or group has the authority to assault, torture, humiliate, punish, or otherwise take the law into their own hands under any circumstance.

Citizens are urged to report suspected criminal activity to the police and allow the justice system to take its lawful course.

The Police further called on members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing credible information that may assist ongoing investigations and lead to the identification and arrest of additional suspects.

The LNP reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against mob violence, vigilante attacks, and all forms of extrajudicial punishment, stressing that anyone found engaging in, facilitating, or encouraging such unlawful acts will face the full weight of the law.

The suspects remain presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.

The LNP said it remains committed to protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of all persons across the Republic of Liberia and to ensuring that justice is administered through lawful and accountable processes.
